Church Deep Energy Retrofit

Scope of project:

Refreshing a 55 year old hall and improving it’s energy efficiency

Client:

Kelowna Unitarian Fellowship

Highlights:

The old building was very well built, but numerous renovations and lack of insulation were dividing the congregation about it’s future… renovate or rebuild.  The planning committee was thinking deeply about the “green” perspective and decided renovation was in order.  We removed the interior walls ran all new electrical and insulated to R28 and R44+ in the ceiling.  The walls were covered and finishing details included the original interior paneling (slightly reworked) as well as locally milled trim.  Door changes and additions in the downstairs, new flooring, & new mood lighting have transformed the space into a comfortable place to connect.  The members of the church have told me they have a renewed interested in the church and community.  Furthermore, the rental of the space has seen increased revenues.
