Scope of project:
Bring building insulation & electrical up to modern standards
Client:
Okanagan Centre Hall Council, Winfield
Highlights:
This 90+ year old building was cold in the winter. It’s wood insulation had sunk, the knots in the wall boards let air flow through, and walls were showing their age. Since the exterior siding had been installed recently we chose to build in. New, straight walls were built to hold modern R20 insulation and vapour barrier. This was covered with local beetle killed tongue and groove pine. A restored arch topped church window installed facing the lake added the final flare. The results were dramatic. Not only did the building retain heat even without the furnaces on, but we had a beautiful new interior. The hall’s heating bills have dramatically decreased, and rental revenue has more than doubled.
Update:
The hall is experiencing heating bills that total just 1/3 of the pre-renovation bills, as well as a dramatic increase in rentals.
